Elakizhi
Understanding the Therapy
Elakizhi is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy where warm herbal leaves are processed with medicinal oils and bundled into therapeutic pouches (kizhi). These heated pouches are gently massaged over the body, delivering deep nourishment, improved mobility, and relief from chronic pain. Elakizhi works by opening the pores, enhancing circulation, and easing stiffness, making it one of the most rejuvenating and revitalizing therapies in Ayurveda.
Clinical Purpose
Elakizhi is done to ease chronic pain, reduce inflammation, and rejuvenate stiff or fatigued muscles. The warmth of the kizhi helps open the channels, allowing herbal extracts to penetrate deeper and promote healing. It is also used to stimulate blood flow, detoxify tissues, and restore physical strength in people with long-standing musculoskeletal discomfort.
Ideal For
This therapy is ideal for individuals experiencing joint pain, muscle stiffness, arthritis-related discomfort, back pain, or post-injury soreness. It is also recommended for people with reduced flexibility, sports-related strain, or those who feel tired, heavy, and weak in the body.
